The Korea-Japan Joint Conference, a venue for academic exchange among Southeast Asian researchers, was held on May 26 and 27 at Kyoto University, co-hosted by the KASEAS, Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University (CSEAS), and Institute for Southeast Asian Studies, Jeonbuk National University (JISEAS).
The Korea-Japan Joint Conference, held alternately in Korea and Japan, was held online in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus, and was held face-to-face again this year.
Under the theme of "Engaging Southeast Asian Studies in Age of Uncertainties," a wide range of topics were discussed, including religion, international relations in the Southeast Asian region, international development, history, economics, and social media.
From the KASEAS, Je Seong Jeon, president, gave a keynote speaker on "The Asian Solidarity Movement in Korean Civil Society: Observations of 30 Years of Development," and nine Korean participants shared eight presentations.
